On behalf of the Indonesian Geothermal Association (INAGA), it is my great pleasure to welcome you to The 12 Indonesia International Geothermal Convention & Exhibition (IIGCE) 2026, held under the theme "Energy Self-Sufficiency for a Stronger Indonesia: Geothermal as the Baseload Driving Energy Transition and Security"
Indonesia's geothermal industry continues to demonstrate steady progress. With an installed capacity of approximately 2.7 GW, Indonesia remains the second largest geothermal power producer in the world. At the same time, with an estimated potential exceeding 23 GW, our nation holds one of the largest geothermal resource bases globally positioning geothermal as a strategic pillar of Indonesia's long-term energy future.
The theme of IIGCE 2026 underscores Indonesia's strategic priority to enhance energy self sufficiency by maximizing domestic energy resources. As a renewable baseload source, geothermal plays a uniquely critical role in ensuring grid stability while supporting the broader energy transition agenda. Unlike intermittent renewable sources, geothermal delivers continuous and reliable power generation, strengthening national energy security and reducing dependence on imported fuels.
The convention convenes policymakers, project developers, financiers, technology providers, and industry leaders to discuss critical pathways for accelerating geothermal deployment. Topics include regulatory clarity and investment frameworks, exploration and drilling innovation, cost optimization, grid integration, financing mechanisms, and the role of geothermal in supporting industrial clusters and remote energy systems.
IIGCE 2026 will convene policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers to address key priorities across the geothermal value chain from policy and regulatory frameworks, exploration acceleration, and technological innovation, to investment mobilization, local content development, and ESG implementation.
Through this convention and exhibition, INAGA remains firmly committed to fostering constructive dialogue among policymakers, industry leaders, investors, and technology providers, while encouraging collaboration that transforms shared ambition into concrete implementation. IIGCE 2026 serves as a vital platform to align national priorities with industry capabilities, positioning geothermal energy as a cornerstone of Indonesia's energy transition and long-term energy security.
I sincerely hope that IIGCE 2026 will generate meaningful insights, strengthen strategic partnerships, and deliver tangible outcomes that further advance Indonesia's journey toward energy self-sufficiency and sustainable economic growth.
Sincerely,
Julfi Hadi
